Scottish Honeyberries Ltd

The Scottish Honeyberries Coop was formed in response to the increasing interest of growing honeyberry fruit in Scotland. Scottish Honeyberries Ltd has been awarded a KTP Project with the James Hutton Institute. The project aims to transfer fundamental knowledge, around the novel fruit crop Honeyberry, into commercial practice through the development of expertise which will have implications in new fruit product development and the creation of new products for customers.

AB Vista

AB Vista, the agricultural division of Associated British Foods is a pioneer in product development for the animal feed industry.  They are undertaking a KTP project with the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde.  The KTP project will focus on developing ways to abolish antibiotic consumption in animal feeds by developing novel nano-delivery systems incorporating bioactive lipids and peptides.  The aim is to support effective antimicrobial stewardship to reduce antibiotic resistance in the food chain without compromising animal welfare.

Brightwake Ltd

Brightwake Ltd are leading experts in designing and manufacturing products and dressings for wound care.  They are undertaking a KTP in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde’s Department of Biomedical Engineering to develop a new generation of Vacuum Therapy device.  The device will incorporate the pumping system and associated electronics into Brightwake’s existing would dressing technology.  The result of this it to make Vacuum Therapy widely available in the community to support the rapidly growing number of patients with long term non-healing wounds.

MW Encap Ltd, a division of Capsugel Dosage Form Solutions, engages in the contract development and manufacture of pharmaceutical projects using a unique core liquid fill hard capsule (LFHC) technology.  This Livingstone based company is undertaking a KTP with the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde to develop new formulation platforms that have the potential to significantly enhance antibiotic efficacy.  This project aims to help address the global health issue of antimicrobial resistance and will focus on adaptations for the treatment of inflammatory diseases in difficult to reach areas of the gastrointestinal tract.

NovaBiotics Ltd is an award winning clinical stage speciality biotechnology company, based in Aberdeen, which designs and develops first in class anti-infective and anti-fungal preparations targeted at unmet clinical conditions.  Their KTP partnership with Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde will transfer essential pharmaceutical formulation knowledge and expertise to develop new formulations which involve Novamycin, a proprietary novel antifungal agent developed by NovaBiotics, into different product treatments which can be delivered in a patient friendly format to enable a rapid cure of oral thrush (Oropharyngeal candidiasis).

Brightwake Ltd (KTP#2)

Brightwake Ltd are working in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, Department of Biomedical Engineering on a 24 month KTP to develop a novel medical device for use in the intensive care treatment of patients with sepsis.  The technology will have the dual function of removing and exchanging plasma while also removing cytokines from the resultant blood product prior to reinfusion.

Since 2001 PAL Technologies has been providing support from its headquarters in Glasgow to more than 200 institutions worldwide.
