Ability Matters Group Ltd, with its headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is a leading supplier of both products and services which enhance the lives of individuals who require devices to improve their mobility and accessibility.  As the main service provider of prosthetic lower limbs to the NHS in England, this company is undertaking a KTP with the University of Strathclyde’s Department of Biomedical Engineering to develop innovative methods of measuring post-operative dimensions of lower limb amputees which will be used to enhance prosthetic fit, comfort and performance of prosthetic lower limbs.  The University of Strathclyde is recognised for its research in evaluating prosthetic shape capture methods and is currently one of the two UK providers of a degree course for training professionals in Prosthetics and Orthotics.  The University of Strathclyde is unique in holding a Category 1 accreditation from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Compound Semiconductor Technologies Global Ltd, based in Hamilton, are a semiconductor foundry and service provider who specialise in the design, development and manufacture of discrete and integrated lll-V opto-electronic devices.  They are working with the School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow on a 24 month KTP project to deliver the growth of Indium Phosphide (InP) by metal organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) for producing high yield photonic integrated circuits.  This technology will be applied in telecoms up to 400Gb/s (Giga bit per second) Ethernet systems in data centres.
