This post offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious engineering graduate to launch a career in Electrical Condition Monitoring as a KTP Associate with the support of company and academic mentors. 

For more than 85 years Doble has been helping clients in the electric power industry and offers diagnostic instruments, solutions and services to benefit energy generation and delivery companies and industrial power users worldwide. 

This KTP project aims to further develop the capability for diagnostic condition assessment of generators, motors and cables. The successful candidate will undertake a 22 month collaborative project to provide technical input to the development of a new innovative instrument platform, identify new business opportunities and provide a markedly improved service to customers. The role will specifically assist in the embedding into the instrument the enhanced capability of collecting, storing and analysing condition monitoring datasets, optimising the outputs from the data collected. This in turn will enable the company to remove barriers to accessing the technology that will benefit clients and provide added value condition monitoring and thus differentiate Doble Powertest in relation to market competitors. 

The successful candidate will undergo extensive training in conducting condition assessment of electrical equipment on client sites and to prepare them to be part of the team that will lead best practice and promote the launch and application of the new instrument platform. A £4k personal development budget is available and there is also the possibility of downstream employment within the company and the potential for co-authorship of academic papers. 

The ideal candidate will have preferably have a good MEng./MSc degree in Electrical, or, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a PhD in an Electrical Engineering Discipline. 

The successful candidate will have a high level of technical knowledge, can demonstrate the capability to work across a diversity of technical areas with an inquisitive and innovative approach and have excellent knowledge and experience of analytical and problem solving skills. 

You should be confident, self-motivated and capable of working autonomously as well as in a team and be able to interact at all levels within industry. Good communication skills are essential as is a flexible working approach and strict time management of project tasks. Ability to balance technical issues with commercial constraints and demonstrate abstract thinking skills are also key requirements for this role. 

You must have a driver’s license and be willing and able to travel independently both within the UK and overseas.
