The School of Engineering & Built Environment is currently looking to appoint a Knowledge Transfer Partner (KTP) Associate for a fixed term of 24 months.  The post relates to a newly formed KTP partnership between SST Sensing Ltd and the Instrumentation, Control and Chemical Sciences subject group at GCU.

SST Sensing Ltd design and manufacture a range of fluid and gas sensing solutions and have supplied their products to industry over the past 10 years.

The KTP associate will be an employee of Glasgow Caledonian University and will be supervised by academics at GCU, but will mainly be based at SST in Coatbridge with some characterization work carried out at GCU.  The position includes extensive management training and a generous personal development budget. Through this KTP project, you will play a key role on managing and implementing strategic developments in the company and transferring knowledge between the company and University. The KTP project aims to develop the next generation of gaseous oxygen sensors based on fluorescence spectroscopy. The KTP Associate will focus on embedding chemistry expertise into the company with the specific aim of improving the performance of the current oxygen sensor and develop a new oxygen sensor.  

The successful candidate will have a PhD in chemical/physical sciences or a related discipline.  Ideally this would be in the area of fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence based sensors or polymer chemistry.  In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent practical laboratory skills as well as strong IT literacy and communication skills.
