The KTP associate will be an employee of Glasgow Caledonian University but will be based at the company headquarters in Edinburgh with regular supervision meetings with the University supervisory team.

Geckotech Solutions Ltd provide a range of rope access services to commercial, industrial, governmental and public utility clients through the provision of trained rope access technicians and examiners. They specialise in access and examination solutions for areas and environments which are difficult to examine or repair using conventional methods of access (e.g. tunnels, shafts, confined spaces and complex engineering structures). The company are currently looking to expand their business by developing bespoke Image Processing systems for structural monitoring.



The project provides an excellent opportunity to use cutting edge research skills in image processing to develop a novel combined optical and thermal imaging system and associated analysis software, that will dramatically raise the quality and speed of structural monitoring within hard to reach environments.

The project is aimed at creating cutting edge industrial systems, based on state-of-the-art image processing methods, including image registration, stitching and fusion, combined with fast implementation methods. Combined with this, we expect to generate high quality research publications from the work. The post includes a generous budget for training, travel, conference attendance and equipment.



Candidates should possess a PhD in Image Processing, Computer Vision or Machine Learning combined with the following:

First degree BEng/MEng/BSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science


·         Excellent programming experience in C++ and Matlab is required.

·         Experience of image processing or machine learning algorithm development.

·         Experience of embedded systems development.

·         Exposure to the full software development lifecycle.

·         Evidence of high quality research and development in vision, image processing, signal processing or machine learning.
