Dumfries & Galloway Council is run by 47 councillors who are elected by the residents of the area. Dumfries and Galloway is the third largest region in Scotland, covering 2,380 square miles and with an estimated population of 148,060.

Dumfries & Galloway Council are currently working with the School of Computing at the University of the West of Scotland to implement a sharepoint based records management system addressing legislatory requirements as defined in the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011.

This project is ongoing and being supported by the West of Scotland KTP Centre.
