Pharmaceutical Formulation Development Specialist (KTP Associate)

This 24-month post is based at AB Vista, Marlborough and is an exciting and challenging position relating to the development of animal foodstuffs incorporating peptides for the prevention of infectious disease.  The post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to complement their existing skills scientific with invaluable commercialisation experience and oversee the introduction of disruptive technologies into a commercially dynamic marketplace. 

Candidates should possess a PhD in Pharmacy or Biomedical Science, preferably with experience in Microbiology, and have experience of working in formulation, analytical chemistry.  You will be responsible for formulation, design and evaluation; coordinating R&D and commercialisation activities between the academic and company bases; maintaining a project data base and embedding project knowledge back into the company base.  You will have strong experience of formulating lipid-based drug delivery systems, particularly lipid-based formulation, and be familiar with related characterisation and analytical techniques.  Experience of microbiology and biochemistry and working in a regulated environment is desirable. You will possess excellent communication, planning, organising, team working, practical, problem solving and computing skills.

The position will provide the unique opportunity for an enthusiastic graduate scientist to be instrumental in the formulation, development and characterisation of animal feedstock for a multinational animal nutrition company.

Supported by academic staff at the University of Strathclyde, you will develop bespoke animal feedstock products for one of AB Vistas current proprietary actives which has the opportunity to abolish antibiotic consumption in animal and to reduce antibiotic resistance in the food chain without compromising animal welfare. You will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplined team informing and influencing both at technical, commercial and managerial levels.  You will also be responsible for development and characterisation of new feedstock products, maintaining accurate records and preparing supporting documentation for subsequent field testing. The job will require the successful candidate to be capable of working between multiple sites dependent upon the phase of the project.

The position has an additional allocated training budget of £4,000 for personal development.
