Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. Last year we marked the 125th anniversary of our foundation as an institution dedicated to supporting science, industry and the professions. The University now seeks to appoint a KTP Associate to develop and test new and exciting meat products and other smoked products for Rannoch Smokery (innovative smokers of meat and game for over 25 years).

Reporting to Dr Jon Wilkin and Rannoch Smokery (Kinloch Rannoch), you will lead the design and implementation of New Product Development (NPD) processes and technical work for the successful design and manufacture of exciting new products to fit the Rannoch Smokery current product ranges and brand image. The role will require, on a day to day basis, kitchen scale development of new products whilst running and embedding up to date consumer and sensory panel testing of new product concepts and prototypes. The role will also require process development of new innovative products supporting the factory at Rannoch Smokery. You will also champion the technical aspects of the business and work with them to secure new business.

The successful candidate will ideally possess a 2.1 or above BSc in Food Science and/or Technology / Food and Consumer Science related undergraduate degree or relevant areas; and have in-depth knowledge of food safety, food science and consumer behaviour and some nutritional ability.
