Research Associate - Data Scientist
RGU, School of Computing Science & Digital Media
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Data Scientist or strongly related field graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate in Data Science with emphasis on Machine Learning, Data Mining and Data Visualisation. You will undertake a 2-year collaborative project between IDS and The School of Computing Science and Digital Media. Based on IDS premises in Aberdeen, you will take a leading role in the design and development and evaluation of intelligent set of tools and algorithms for searching and mining structured and unstructured oilfield data. You will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain marketable skills, broaden knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from industrial and academic mentors. You will benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £4,000 and have the to enrol as an MRes student (Master by Research) in closely related field (i.e. Data Science, Machine Learning, etc…) You will be educated to Honours degree level in Data Science, Computing or a strongly related discipline with a minimum of a 2:1, an MSc in Data Science, Information Engineering or similar field would also be advantageous. You will be self-motivated with an ability to work independently and to tight deadlines within a dynamic and small team environment. In addition, you will need to have strong programming skills as well as a genuine enthusiasm for applying advanced methods to a real-world problem.
